Wash And Iron Your Fabric

If you EVER plan to wash your doll's skirt you must wash the fabric first. First, it will remove the sizing, making the fabric easier to work with. Second, if your fabric is going to shrink, you want it to shrink before you cut and sew it. Shrinkage afterwards will affect the fit and can pucker the seams, making the skirt unwearable. (The fabric being washed here is for another project I'm making, since the fabric I wanted to use for the dollfie skirt had already been washed.)

Unfortunately, washing cottons leaves them wrinkled. In order to get accurate cuts, you need to iron the entire piece flat. Make sure to use your iron's correct settings for cottons.
